Benefitting from close links to the airport, Biocair’s Hamburg facility now offers an enhanced package of support following an expansion. As a leading global life science logistics expert, Biocair has always been at the forefront of innovation in cold chain logistics. The increased capacity in Hamburg will add to the existing channels offered in Germany from its Frankfurt facility, enabling customers to benefit from additional services and specialist logistics support.

The Hamburg facility expansion, which more than doubles its original building size and staff numbers, provides additional import, export, pickup and delivery options, plus the extension of its packaging service for items requiring dry ice logistics. This has been possible through an improved provision of a new refrigerator and freezer in its larger warehouse to facilitate temperature-controlled packaging, ranging from -79°c to -15°c, +2°c to +8°c and +15°c to +25°c.

Additional staff have been employed to manage its cold chain logistics, collecting and delivering shipments in new vehicles using Biocair’s unique ‘white glove’ approach. This includes handling complex shipments of active pharmaceutical ingredients, and managing the complexities of international shipping and regulatory requirements to bespoke briefs.

Using experts, who have in-depth knowledge of the local market to manage the end-to-end logistics process, has resulted in increasing customer reliance on Biocair in Hamburg. By having a local expert in place, who understands the difficulties and challenges in terms of regulations alone, opens new channels for customers and provides new options for prospects who need a sophisticated cold chain logistics solution. Items can be safely transported within Germany and abroad, also taking advantage of the existing network options offered by Biocair’s Frankfurt facility.

Commenting on what the Hamburg facility means for customers, Biocair’s René von Holdt said: “Our local knowledge is second to none, so adding to our specialized cold chain logistics service by increasing our site and numbers of staff is of huge benefit to customers. By having improved facilities, such as state of the art conference rooms and auditing capabilities, shows how serious we are about providing a complete package of support within the Hamburg region.”

The team in Hamburg will be opening its doors early next year to deliver a market update. To register and keep up to date with news from the region, subscribe to our news updates below.
